FABRIC COMPOSITION:

100% Merino

We use a combination of ZQ and RWS certified 100% merino. Both of these certifications ensure ethical and sustainable practices. Take a look ZQ here and RWS here. We were also lucky enough to get some of the last merino fabrics knitted right here in NZ, which is being used in a range of garments.

How to care for your Merino:

We recommend that you wash after you wear your Merino to keep it nice and fresh. Merino can be machine or hand washed. We recommend hand washing as it is a gentler way to wash your garments & kinder to the planet. Please use a liquid wool detergent as common laundry powders can contain whiteners, which act like bleach. This can create holes and ladders in the garment.  Please do not tumble dry.

Hand Wash - Gently hand wash in lukewarm water. Use only approved liquid wool detergent. Rinse well. To get rid of excess water, do not wring, instead, roll your garment up in a towel and gently press to absorb. Lay flat in shade to dry.

Machine Wash - Machine wash in a cold. Use environmentally friendly approved liquid wool detergent. Separate light from darks. Wash prints inside out.

Stains - Should you find yourself dealing with a stain, immediately apply a solvent-based stain remover such as eucalyptus oil. Apply it in small amounts, working inwards on the stain to avoid it from spreading. Follow with a cold wash.

Storage - Our 100% merino cardigans are a tasty treat for moth larvae and we highly recommend that they are cleaned before storing. Merino garments are susceptible to moth holes due to their natural fabrication. The larvae of the clothes moth only eat natural fibres usually wool. If you find a hole appearing in your merino garments it is maybe an indication of clothes moth infestation. Clothes moths are seldom seen because unlike many other moths they avoid light. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas such as wardrobes and tend to live in corners or in folds of fabric. Clothes moth adults do not feed so they cause no injury to fabrics. However, the adults produce eggs that hatch into the larvae which is what eats the natural fibres.

The best way to avoid clothes moths is to store any merino in tightly sealed plastic storage bags or bins. Alternatively, keep your closet open and move garments often as moths hate light and movement. You can also use moth chemical traps where you are storing any natural fibres.
